If you need a family-friendly vehicle, both the 2019 Toyota Sienna and 2019 Honda Odyssey are great choices. Still, our team at Bill Penney Toyota was curious to know which one of these vans has more to offer drivers in Huntsville, Athens, and Elkmont.

To get our answer, we compared the two, and this is what we found.

2019 Toyota Sienna vs Honda Odyssey: Interior Technology

2019 Toyota Sienna Interior Technology Both the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey are well-equipped with family-friendly technologies. For example, they both come standard with Bluetooth® hands-free smartphone connectivity. This system helps you easily call the coach to let them know if you’re running late for practice while keeping your hands safely on the wheel.

Both vans also have an in-car PA system that allows you to speak through your car’s speakers. This way, even the most active kids in the back row can hear you without having to raise your voice.

Back seat passengers can settle in for a long road trip with an available rear seat entertainment system and Blu-ray disc player. In the Odyssey, this available system includes a 10.2-inch display screen that folds out of the ceiling. In the Sienna, this screen is 16.4 inches and includes a split-screen feature so passengers can watch multiple movies at once.

The smaller screen size and lack of split-screen capabilities may cause arguments over what movie to watch in the Honda Odyssey.

Interior Seating and Dimensions for the Sienna and Odyssey

The 2019 Toyota Sienna and 2019 Honda Odyssey are both spacious vans that can seat up to eight passengers—that’s almost an entire little league team! Even with every seat filled, you’ll still have more than 38 cubic feet of trunk space in either the Sienna or Odyssey.

An extra comfort feature we like in the Toyota Sienna is the available lounge seating. This places two captain’s chairs in the second row with a recline feature, adjustable footrests, and armrests.

The Honda Odyssey doesn’t offer this kind of comfort, so passengers may have more trouble sleeping or getting comfortable on long car trips.

2019 Sienna vs 2019 Odyssey: Smart Safety Features

2019 Toyota SiennaBoth the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey know that you’ll be carrying precious cargo, so they each have smart safety features that can help you be more aware of your surroundings.

For example, they both have a forward-collision mitigation feature that alerts you to unseen hazards on the road ahead, including pedestrians. If necessary, it can also hit the brakes to try to avoid a potential collision.

Additionally, they have a lane keeping system that issues a warning if you drift from your lane of travel. This feature can gently steer you back in line, too.

All of these features come standard in the Toyota Sienna while the Honda Odyssey requires a trim level upgrade before they become available.

2019 Toyota Sienna vs 2019 Honda Odyssey: Which is Right for You?

The van that’s right for you depends on your needs. However, we compared the 2019 Toyota Sienna vs. the 2019 Honda Odyssey and found that the Sienna has a few extra features that we think Huntsville, Athens, and Elkmont area drivers will appreciate.
